"Been coming here since I was a kid"

I have a lot of fond memories of Stearns Wharf because I've been coming here for 30 years. My dad used to buy fishing bait here and we'd eat or get ice cream on the way. I always loved that you can drive out onto the pier. I used to think it was super cool to see the ocean through the big planks and really feel like I am out in the water.

Nowadays, when we visit, I take my 4 year old. We enjoy the Ty Warner Sea Center and looking at the pelicans and seagulls who land on the wharf. The last time we were there, we watched the sunset and ate dinner at Santa Barbara Shellfish. The food was great and my daughter enjoyed it too.

"car friendly"

This is one of the few piers in California that you can actually drive onto.  My kids got a kick out of "driving over the water".  We found a penny press in a souvenir shop which made our day (and saved our wallets), spent time in the Ty Warner Sea Center, and then headed back to the beach to walk on the sand.
This is a very fun wharf to explore, walk on or drive on.

"Family Fun!"

Stern's Wharf is a Santa Barbara delight!  You can plan your whole day watching marine life, playing on the grassy spaces just off the wharf, eating at one of the restaurants (the rooftop terrace of Moby Dick's is great for families), visiting the Ty Warner Sea Center, getting ice cream or candy at one of the shops, watching the boats sail around, and so much more!

"Stearns Wharf"

We enjoy taking a walk on Stearns Wharf. Take a walk to the end look for sealife, pelicans, watch fishermen, boats, etc. We eat at Longboards outside, top deck of the Harbor Restaurant, also fun to get a cooked crab at the end of the wharf and sit at a picnic table or get an ice cream at the ice cream shop. A highlight for the parents will be the sunset at Stearns Wharf Vintners. Taste, buy a bottle of wine and cheese and crackers and sit on the patio. Stern's Wharf is a great starting point for a day of fun. Within walking distance is the Carousel, Chase Palm Park, Sunday Art fair (every Sunday and many holiday's), Skateboard park, bike and surrey rentals, kayak rentals, etc
