"clean, beautiful beaches close to other touristy spots."

St. Augustine is a typical Florida beach in my opinion: very vast white clean sands with clear blue-turquoisey water that have  waves with a sandbar  not to far from the shoreline, and no lifeguards 99.9% of the time.  What makes this beach distinctive is that you feel like you are in a 'small' beach resort town with cute local hotels and foods, and it isnt crazy like Daytona.  And yes, these locally owned hotels and eateries are right at the shoreline.   This beach is fun for both families and history buffs alike since one can easily drive to downtown historic St. Augustine in less than 30 minutes.

"Wonderful beach"

We loved our time at the St. Augustine Beach.  The beach was very clean and not over crowded.  It was easy to relax on and let the kids play in the sand.  We had fun walking around the castillo and learning a bit more about the history (the kids were more interested in the beach than the castillo though).

"St. Augustine Beach is the Best"

Normally we go to the West coast of Florida in the Summer, but because of the oil spill this year, we decided to try the East coast.  We stayed in a beach condo named Beso del Sol and had the best vacation ever.  The beach is very wide and the waves and the water were just perfect for our family.  There is a very gradual incline into the water.  No steep drop off.  We loved the waves so much better than the gulf.  Our children could have spent all day long at the shore.  They built sandcastles, played on boogie boards, and collected seashells.  We spent a full day in the historic city of St. Augustine.  The castillo was amazing.  We would highly recommend this trip to all families.

"one of the good ones!"

I'm rating based on tourism alone- I don't like crowds at my beaches!
However, in general if you get here- you have arrived in Foodie HEAVEN! Not only is the beach pristine, open and beautiful with ample parking- but, you have any type of cuisine your heart desires nearby. I highly recommend the white pizza at Pizzalley's.

"All ages "

What a wonderful area, there are stores, beaches, and activities for the whole family. It is a very old city. Ripleys is there, old war sites. The water is warm all year long. There are even a few waves for some body boarding. There are shells to collect. Beautiful beach most everything is within walking distance of food, and shopping.
