"Fun and informative!"
This is a guided tour up the Mississippi River on a paddlewheeler boat. The information given is really unique to the area and kept our attention the entire time. We went without our children in tow, though I suspect that our oldest (age six) would have really enjoyed the experience, though the younger ones would have been too antsy to sit still for the duration of the trip. Some of the area attractions that we got to see included Julien Dubuque's Monument, Lock and Damn #11, many river barges, and Eagle Point Park. Next time we take this tour we’ll probably do so on one of their lunch cruises and eat a meal while enjoying the scenery.

"Kind of long for kids"
We went on the 1 1/2 hour sightseeing cruise on the Spirit of Dubuque, a paddlewheeler on the Mississippi River. While it was an enjoyable ride, it got kind of long for the kids.
The tour is narrated so you know the history and landmarks of the area. During the last few minutes, passengers are invited to the pilothouse to see how the boat is controlled.
You can sit in the open-air balcony (which is covered to protect from the sun) or in the air-conditioned lower level. Chairs and tables are plentiful in both areas. If it isn't a meal cruise, concessions are available.
We did see a bald eagle and learned a lot about the area. As an adult, I really liked it, but was about 20 minutes too long for our kids.
