"The most thrilling at Disneyland"

Likely the most exciting ride at Disneyland park, Space Mountain is a rollercoaster in the dark.  It is set in outerspace and comes equipped with an energetic soundtrack that blares from the speakers behind you.
If you have brave little ones, be sure to ride this ride.
*Fastpass is available and can save you a VERY long wait.  I always fastpass this ride.

"My favorite... but not in October"

I absolutely love riding on Space Mountain.  I usually get the giggles near the end of the ride because I just can't tell which way the ride is going to go and I get all topsy-turvy as it goes faster and faster along a cork-screw.

In October, my 9 year old rode this ride for his birthday.  He left the ride in tears, and my husband was shaken too.  Space Mountain takes up the Halloween theme in the park by adding a scary ghost to the images displayed on the ceiling.  The ride isn't altered in it's course, but the music and the images were very disturbing for my son.  He still talks about it and almost tears up in defiance of his fears.  He hopes to ride this sometime when it is not decorated for Halloween.

Update: spring 2012:  my 9 year old, Ghost Galaxy-hating son rode Space Mountain as an 11 year old and had a much funner experience.  He liked the speed and fast turns but still didnt enjoy the dark.  My other kids and nieces and nephews (7-12) loved it!  I made the mistake of letting my 5 year old ride it because he was tall enough and wanted to go.  He has liked roller coasters before.  He did NOT like it and cried most of the time, although I could neither hear him nor see him. I believe I would only recommend this ride for 9 and older unless they are incredibly brave.
