The Southbank Riverwalk is a great outdoor activity for the whole family to enjoy. This embodies the essence of Jacksonville with the downtown views. It is a nice way to really see the city of Jacksonville, for both newcomers and people that have lived in Jacksonville all their life! I am from Jacksonville and love it. There is lots to see with three museums just off the walk. Also, water taxis and a frienship fountain. Very nice outdoor activity.
The Friendship Fountain was both of our kids' favorite part about this area. The Friendship Fountain is a huge fountain that my kids ran circles around the whole time we were there. The area is surrounded by beautiful bridges, nice restaurants and pretty riverwalk sidewalks.
Taking a stroll down the Riverwalk of Jacksonville is relaxing and beautiful. There are many great photo spots and picnic areas to choose from. There is even 24 hour security. Many great restaurants are along the way including the Jacksonville AleHouse and Ruth Chris steakhouse.
Facing Jacksonville Landing from across the river, this jaunty 1.2-mile boardwalk offers more excitement and cultural activity, including the Friendship Fountain and three museums including The Museum of Science & History, Jacksonville Historical Center, and the Jacksonville Maritime Museum. Water taxis cross between the two areas (admission: $3 adults, $2 children one-way; kids under age 3 ride free). Public restrooms are provided at the marina.
