"Fun in a beautiful town."

This was a really fun activity for my daughter.  I will say it's not much but it's clean, unique, and a perfect couple of hours for my 3 year old.  Not only that but after you can spend some time in beautiful Sonoma.

Train town is a small amusement park...really small.  There is a great train ride that that stops in a little "town" with a jail, school house, fire house, farm.  With a lama, goats, and sheep you can feed for 25 cents a hand full of feed.  Then you board back onto the train to go back to the station.  $5 for a round trip ticket.  Now this is not a super sophisticated train ride threw a country side.  It's full of statue animals and small scale buildings.  But even though us adults can see the flaws...the children do not!  My daughter along with the other kids on the train where so animated and excited to see all the"animals" and the buildings.  There are some tunnels and waterfalls that are always exciting for the kids too!  The park supplies water and hand sanitizer for you for after you feed the animals.

There is also a carousel, airplane ride, and other spinning rides.  I will say that the operators of the rides operate more than one ride.  That might mean a little bit of a wait.  I have been to other amusement parks that do the same so it wasn't something that bothered me.  For 6 tickets $12.

The big train in front of Train Town is an old train that the kids can explore for free.  Climbing and running threw was something that was very fun for my 3 year old.  This was a really enjoyable day.  After Train Town we headed to Sonoma Plaza and had a picnic lunch and played on the playground.  Such a fun day!

"Sounds like a better idea than it really is"

I had heard that this was a great place for kids who love trains, so we were really excited to visit with our 1.5 yr old and 4 yr old. The train ride was okay and the llama, goats and other animals at the stop were a nice surprise. But, there are definitely more fun and interesting train rides in the Bay Area.

The train ride took us by a bunch of "animals", but they were just statues. And, while the grounds cover 10 acres, that's actually not that large when you are covering it by train. There's a lot of winding back and forth, so you don't see that many different things.

There are other carnival rides which our kids didn't want to ride. But, other kids who were riding the rides had to be very patient. The ride operators seem to operate multiple rides, so at least half of the rides are closed at any one time.

"Perfect for 3 year olds"

Three year olds is a sweet spot in regards to age. They will enjoy both the train and the rides. Some of the rides are too big for 2 yr olds and 4-5 yr olds might get a little bored.  2 yr olds love the train itself and the animals. All in all, great value for the money and the weather is usually great in Sonoma.

"Good spot"

We took the boys here when my boyfriends family was in town. Unfortunately it was raining out, so we couldn't go on all the rides. But the bo;ys, 2 and 3 yr olds, loved the train! It's a decent train ride, and you get to stop off in a little town and feed the animals. After, we stopped at the merry-go-round. Next time we'll go when its not raining so we can get the full experience.

"Fun times at Traintown"

We visited in March when the weather was still cool and the crowds at bay. There is a lot to do at this little place. Some of the rides weren't open when we visited but my daughter was happy to ride the train and the merry-go-round. The train makes a 10 minute stop at a little town where there are farm animals to pet and feed.

"Fun with the Family"

Younger children love this: an open-air steam train ride through a redwood forest to a tiny farm that has a petting zoo; also, a Ferris wheel, a vintage carousel, Dragon Coaster, and Chattanooga Choo Choo Chairs, plus a snack shop. For lunch or dinner, go next door to Pizza Capri.

"Not worth the trip"

My son loves trains so we made an effort to get out to Sonoma Train Town and just weren't impressed. It has a small train you can ride around on, but the planning on getting onto a train was nonexistent - so it was very stressful to make sure you got on a train when there were other people around (there was no obvious line).  The other attractions seemed to be your typical carnival events, and we were not interested so we just ended up taking the train and leaving. I don't have any interest in ever going back.

"Loads of Fun for Train Fans"

This is a fun and inexpensive little attraction.  The minature train ride is alot of fun.  A fun way to spend an hour or two while visiting Sonoma.  It is a must visit for little ones or grownups who love trains.  Our family has been visiting for generations.  Can hardly wait to go back!

"Trains, carousel, kiddie coaster, etc."

Truly fantastic. The only thing is that sometimes in shoulder season they don't hire enough people to operate all the rides, so you have to stand there and wait for the operator to finish with, say, the carousel before your kids can ride the biplanes. But the train ride is just fantastic and a lot of the rides are appropriate for even small kids.

"Traintown, redux"

It's been a while but we went back to Traintown the day after Thanksgiving. We have two boys now, thus twice as many reasons to seek out wheeled fun. I changed my stars to 5 from 4 because our boys LOVED every minute at Traintown. The scale of the grounds are perfect for the under 5 set. Smaller than Fairyland yet larger than your neighborhood playground. The main train ride was a lot of fun for our kids and my wife and I. Lots of good picture ops during the middle-of-the-ride stop at a miniature old west town. The secondary rides (merry go round, plane ride, etc) are run of the mill but all with good views of the train tracks.

Someone should open a kid friendly restaurant next door!

"It's fun for all!"

Train Town is a quaint little spot in Sonoma, CA. It's got it all; minature railroad that you can ride along, real steam train. Stop in a minature town, feed real animals and board the train back for rides through tunnels, over bridges and back to the station where there is a carousel and other rides, a snack bar and video games. Enjoy, plan on a couple hours min. then head next door to Pizzeria Capri for lunch!

"Train enthusiasts will enjoy"

This is a neat little train stop to go to, especially if you are in the area.  You can ride a scaled-down train and ride some other cute rides.  I don't recommend making the trek just to do this - unless you have a big train lover.  Still, it is a lot of fun and is worth doing if you are in Sonoma or a nearby area, anyhow.  Its in a nice shopping section - so there is lots to do for all ages.
