I have to put my disclaimer up front, because of a meltdown at ski school I did not actually get to participate in the snowshoe tour as scheduled. However, the opportunity at Copper Mountain is so terrific that I just couldn’t pass up not mentioning it. So Copper Mountain provides two FREE snowshoeing tours daily. The morning tour is roughly three hours long and is for the intermediate crowd. The afternoon tour is called the family tour and is open to anyone 8 and older and lasts under two hours. The free tours include the use of snowshoes. So, all you have to do is show up in your outdoor gear to include a pair of boots – waterproof hiking boots were recommended, and you are on your way. The family snowshoe tour predominately moves around the base of the mountain on fairly flat terrain. After talking to several people who participated in the snowshoe tour, the common comment was even if you aren’t in great physical condition the family tour is easy enough that it was recommended time and time again – and don’t forget to take the kids. After all, the family tour is intended to be fun for the family (8 and up).
