The Queens Ball is our official kick-off for the Shrimp Festival and is traditionally held the first Saturday in August before the Shrimp festival.
It is a time of reflection upon the previous years Queens accomplishments and a time for the town meet and greet the newly crowned Queens, Little Miss, Jr. Miss and Miss Shrimp.
It is the biggest community dinner & dance event of the year and is filled with traditions; the first dance is the father daughter dance where the newly crowned Queens dance with their fathers; it is where little girls dance on top of their fathers feet; where friends gather to share good times, and where we enjoy great live music and dine on a scrumptious dinner from one of our local restaurants or caterers.
Where we unveil and sample the new Official Shrimp Festival Wine, to see the winning poster and t-shirt design and to thank everyone for all their help.
We have large groups of locals that attend every year (they want the same seats in the same corner every year) but there is always room to meet new friends, so please mark it on your calander, get a ticket and get ready for the social event of the year.
Queens Ball is $25/Person.
The town of Sneads Ferry, located on the mainland on Highway 172, is home to the annual Sneads Ferry Shrimp Festival. Since 1971 the community has sponsored this two-day event, usually held the second weekend in August. Here the whole family will enjoy a parade, carnival, arts and crafts, historical displays, and, of course, lots of fresh shrimp. Call (910) 327–4911 for more information.
