Pick your own apples with a spectacular view at 3000 feet up. There is also a small barnyard area with goats, sheep, chickens and turkey.
Its a nice place, there were not lots of apples left when we went there. But we picked up quite a few and they were delicious. Also there are a couple of things for kids too like playhouse where they enjoyed a lot! Also we took hay rides which was awesome fun! Also you cant miss out on the apple cider and the donuts they were amazing! There is also animal shelter there. We got 2 baskets full of apples for $15 enough for making apple cider at home. Kids also thoroughly enjoyed the place picking apples and the hay ride.
Skytop is by far the best apple orchard we have been to. The apple cider donuts are so scrumptious! They have a great hayride, play area for the kids, and animals to feed. The view is breath taking. You can buy your apples or pick your own. The also have apple cider slushies to cool off on a hot day. The kids loved picking their own to see who could get the biggest one.
We just rerturned today from Sky Top Orchard.it is a wonderful orchard...tons of apple trees, lots of variety of apples! One thing that they do not tell you on their website is that THEY ONLY TAKE CASH OR CHECK, so if you only have a credit card or debit card, you are out of luck. THIS IS A WARNING..when we first went in to get a basket, they had 2 size baskets...the smaller basket is $9.00 and the larger is $15.00...we took the $9.00 basket, filled it up, when we returned, they gave us a "peck" bag and told us that the apples that we filled up in the $9.00 basket would be able to fit in the "peck" bag...no way..so we asked for a larger bag..he wouldn't give us a larger bag..he just gave us another "peck" bag.they charged us $18.00 for the apples..we told them we had a $9.00 basket that we filled..his response was basically, too bad, you have 2 peck bags..my advice...get a price PER BAG BEFORE you pick your apples and do not go by what the basket size is.we feel that we were totally ripped off..if we had filed one of the larger bags, which we would have, it would have cost $15.00..I called Sky Top when I got home...all they said was that they were sorry..in other words, this is normal practice for them..beware!!!
SkyTop Orchard has tons of apples! They have a small playground area, but nothing spectacular. The freshly made donuts are awesome! Bring a picnic lunch to round out your day. A half-bushel of apples cost $15, more than enough to make a few apple pies.
Sky Top is near Flat Rock, NC. It's only about a 45 min. drive from Greenville, SC. Every October, you'll find families picking apples, having picnics, and drinking apple cider slushies. (Trust me, buy an apple cider slushy and you'll have a happy ride home.) Sky Top has a fun play area for young kids with a playhouse and swings. They also have a bamboo forest that the 7-12 year olds love. This is definitely a great spot to take the family.
