Great for kids. At low tide they can walk out for what seems like fovever and look for small hermit crabs, play in the puddles left behind, build sand castles.... Beach is kept very clean. A little expensive to park ($15) and the parking lot fills up fast. There is a consession stand to purchase food at.
Skaket Beach, Orleans’s bay beach, is popular with families who enjoy playing in tidal flats and warm, clear sea. Facilities include restrooms, lifeguards, two beach chairs for the handicapped, changing rooms, and a snack bar.
We were just driving to find any Cape Cod beach, and found this one at low tide! It was soooo amazing on the clear Fall day we were there--- miles and miles of sand exposed at low tide, views to take one's breath away. We parked at Rock Harbor for easy access (there are port-a-potties there for kidlet emergencies!). It's a long walk to the ocean, but the creek/ inlet provided lots of wading and chasing little minnows, finding shells. Bring swim gear and pails and a sun shade and enjoy a few hours!
