"A blast"

Not only is this amusement park filled with over a hundred rides, it also has plenty of attractions. Not only will children enjoy their time here so will adults. Six flags is a great place to spend some fun family time, theres a place for everyone in this fun amusement park. since Six Flags s pretty popular the lines are always very long, and may even take 30 minutes and longer, but all amusement parks have lines, and its worth it. I'm sure anyone will have a blast at Six Flags Great America.

"Have a GREAT Time at Great America"

Great America is the perfect place for the entire family.  I took my mother along to help me with my six kids ages 3-13.  The younger ones enjoyed the fun rides at Kidzopolis while the older kids enjoyed screaming their hearts out on the big roller coasters.  Surprisingly, my mother had more fun than the kids!  She enjoyed all the kiddie rides and even got wet in designated Splash Zones.  Everyone had fun in Hurricane Harbor!

Great America is great for the elderly and those with limited mobility.  My mother has a hard time walking distances, but thankfully there was ample amount of shaded seating throughout the park.  This was great because we chose an extremely hot day to attend.  My mother was aware that wheelchairs were available to rent, but felt it was unnecessary for this trip.  Many rides, bathrooms, and paths were wheelchair accessible.

My older girls loved going on the twisty roller coasters.  They had fun scaring me half to death while they kept their arms waving in the sky.  Their favorite roller coasters were Viper, Ricochet, and Raging Bull.  Giant Drop had too long of a line to wait in.  Next time we attend, we will buy the FlashPass so we are able to get more accomplished without having to wait in lines.

My younger kids enjoyed Kidzopolis, a kids-themed area inside of the County Fair section filled with rides and shows.  The kids loved the Krazy Kars, Krazy Kups, Up, Up and Away, Zoom Jets, and Bouncer rides.  They also participated in the Kids Challenge show where two of my kids were selected and placed on opposing teams.  They were asked questions and required to complete fun physical challenges.  The winners, including my younger daughter, received a lei, an autographed photo from Looney Tunes characters and an “I Won!” button, while the opposing team, including my older daughter, received a lei and an “I Participated” button.  It was a great souvenir that my younger daughter still uses to tease her older sister with.  There was also a mini Splash Zone located in the center so that one could cool off.

We had lunch in the food court.  There were many different choices of food to eat.  My kids enjoyed hot dogs, corn dogs, chicken strips, and burgers.  The Food Court also had a pizza place, a Panda Express Chinese Food, a Cold Stone Creamery, and a BBQ Restaurant.  Many restaurants offered family meal deals which included 4 meals (such as burgers or chicken strips), 4 fries, and 4 drinks for one price, around $45.  If you are a season pass holder, a discount is given.

After settling our stomachs and reapplying sunscreen, we headed for Hurricane Harbor.  The kids were looking forward to this waterpark since we entered the park.  It was HUGE!  I was extremely pleased that an ample supply of life jackets was available for free for guests of the park. With three children who are still learn to swim, it helped put my mind at ease.  The younger ones had fun in Buccaneer Bay, a toddler pool, while my older children ventured off to the older pools.  They enjoyed Castaway Creek, the lazy river, Hurricane Mountain, the tube slides, Vortex, Typhoon, the bowl slides, Hurricane Bay, the wave pool, Dive Bomber, Mega Wedgie (Yes!  It really did give them mega wedgies!) and the Tornado.  They tried to attempt Surf Rider, in which you surf for either 2 minutes or up to two falls, but the line was too long.  Again, we will make sure to buy the Flash Pass next time.

My children were so tired after Hurricane Harbor that we had to call it a day.  Unfortunately, we didn’t even make it to the other half of the park.  We planned on going to Yukon Territory to visit Camp Cartoon, but they couldn’t walk anymore.  We wound up going on the Merry-Go-Round, train, and Sky Trek Tower on the way out.  It was nice to sit and relax and enjoy the view of the park.  It was an amazing view.   Although we were unable to see it, we were informed that the Chicago skyline, which was over 50 miles away, could be seen on clear days from the top of the Sky Trek Tower.

With young children, it is not possible to enjoy everything in the entire park in one day.   You definitely need a season pass and a Flash Pass.  Hurricane Harbor is worth the money.  The entire day can be spent there alone.  Another day can be devoted to Camp Cartoon, while another day should be spent at Kidzopolis.  Older kids and adults can skip these areas and enjoy the twisty roller coasters and rides and still need more than one day to experience the entire Six Flags Park.  The place was fun and my family had a great time.

This review is based on complimentary admission to Six Flags Great America for my children and I.  I received no other compensation and the business did not request that I express any particular point of view.  My opinions are my own.

"fun but crowded"

Fantastic rides, but LONG lines. The superman ride was a family favorite, tied with Raging Bull. Hurricane Harbor is great on a hot day, with lots of lounge chairs for mom to rest! Parking is $20 and the bathrooms have a definate odor. As long as you're prepared to pay the outrageous food prices your kids will have a blast.

"Great for older kids"

I grew up going to Great America and I can say that I have some great memories there.  They are always changing and adding news rides and attractions.  There are activities for toddlers, however it gets so busy that in my opinion it is better to bring older children.  As with any themepark, drinks and snacks are expensive so be prepared.  Lines can get long and it is not always the cleanest, be sure to bring sanitizing wipes.

"Gurnee IL"

We Love six flags. I have been going since I was a child, It is very fun but expensive. Also the Park is very big and spread out so if you have little ones it will most definately be a tiring day. The kids Love the carousel and all the different characters throughout the park. If you go off season the lines are not as long, You can also pack your own lunch go out to your car and eat and then go back in to save some money. They have also added quite a few things since the last time we were there. We always have a blast here.

"ALL DAY FUN!"

Not only do I as an adult LOVE this place but so do my 2 kids and all my neices and nephews. If you get there early in the morning you will have plenty to do all day until closeing time. They have great rides for the teens and adults but also have really great stuff for the kidos too. There is a Lonny Toon area where they have characters dressed up to interact with them and plenty of small rides also. One trick we always did was buy the biggest suvineer cup they have. that way you have refills all day long and you can then share your drink with family and take turns getting to pick out which drink. Big money saver.

"fun times"

the fun times can really add up at Six Flags....if you dont have a coke/pepsi product to get some money off the price is pretty steep if you have a big family.  Then after you are in, hopefully you went in the morning when the lines aren't that long otherwise you are going to spend time waiting in lines.....the animal farm area is cool for the kids and the food is ok but pricey but they know we wont let the kids starve and when the kids see the food they want it...dipping dots make the trip worth it though...there is also a water park which is fun for all as well

"Lots of Fun!"

We have gone with our family to Six Flags Great America on several occasions.  It is filled with tons of rides for all ages and you can definitely take a whole day to enjoy this attraction.  If you go during the busy part of the summer, expect to wait in some pretty long lines.  The food and drinks are pretty expensive if you purchase them in the park, but if you choose to leave for lunch there are several local places to eat at.

"A rite of passage"

Growing up in Chicagoland, we went to Six Flags on countless field trips, birthday parties and family trips.  I hated roller coasters growing up, but even I managed to find something to do at this enormous park.  There are tons of rides, ranging from the tame to the very scary, so there's something for everyone.  I especially like that they have areas for young kids, too, so a family can easily split up to enjoy different areas of the park for different people.  Also, don't miss out on the themed events throughout the year.  The Halloween events are fun!

"FUN!!"

You will see a LOT of trashy people here.  That's just the nature of the beast.  However, Six Flags is awesome.  The kids area is great for the little ones, and there are some easy rollercoasters if your kiddos are brave.  Lots of places you can spend your money, but I would recommend spending your time on rides instead of the games.  Fright Fest is a good time if you're around at Halloween.

"Fun for all!"

I have been going here since I was little and it is a great place for all ages. They offer shows, food, shops and rides for all ages. Their customer service is always good, at times things get a little messy from people throwing their trash just anywhere but the cleaning crew seems to get on top of it as fast as they can in the summer months when they are super busy. A fun time is when they have halloween activities for children of all ages!

"Best Six Flags ever!"

Six Flags Great America has the best rides and attractions ever! The fun never ends when you are here, there are so many different things to do. Great for all ages. Prices could be better but high prices for food & drink are a given at any theme park. They put on the best fright fest, we love the scary people they have walking around, so much fun!

"Great way to spend the day with the family"

If you are a fan of amusement parks, then you will enjoy this one.  It is the perfect size.  Small enough to ride just about everything you want, and yet large enough to keep you busy.  Can be a little pricey, but worth the splurge.  Also, the park has a history of having great free concerts by up and coming stars.

"Six Flags = Fun"

Six Flags Great America is a family favorite for us. They offer the theme park and a wonderful waterpark all in one. We have two small boys, ages 3 and 1, and there is plenty for them to do. There is the Flintsone/ Jetsons area with rides for smaller kids that they can do all by themselves, this was great for the 3 year old. Then they have the Wiggles World, where we could take the kids on rides, they could play on a large pirate ship and watch a wiggles show. Then the waterpark has several shallow areas where the boys could play. This is a huge hit for our family!

"Great America is a fun summertime destination"

Six Flags Great America is an excellent family destination.  The setting itself is really nice.  It is just above Chicago right on Lake Michigan.  The lake can be seen from one of the roller coasters.  I personally found the park to be most fun near Halloween.  Themed events are done, fountains are colored red, spooky scenes are all around and haunted houses are added.  Overall the park is best for children over five.  There are some things for little ones to do but definitely more for the older kids.

"best place to visit in summer and halloween time"

We go there every summer.  My cousin gets great discount from here work so she gets tickets for cheaper price. Every year we go there as a 25 people group. We take tons of food too so we can enjoy and have a picnic there. We go early in the morning before the gate opens so we can go to the popular roller costers first and to avoid waiting in the long lines. Al though last year we had to wait in the vertical velocity line for 90 mintues it was crazy. But since we were in a big group we had fun time hanging out/joking around/killed time very fast that way.

"Fall is the best time to go!"

We took my 3 year old son here to the kid area in mid-September and it was the best time to go.  It wasn't hot anymore and kids were already back in school so there weren't any lines for the rides.  It was a beautiful fall day and we had a great time running from ride to ride.  Definitely go this time of year - it's way more enjoyable than in the summer when it's really crowded!

"Be prepared for an amusement park experience"

Long lines happen and Six Flags has some long, long lines on occasion.  I've been going to this place since it was Marriotts.  I love it but a person really needs to be an amusement park liker to enjoy the day here.

There are height restrictions/requirements for all rides, so be aware that your young children may not be allowed on all rides.

The day can be pretty pricey, especially if you eat there too.  There is re-entry to the park so that may be an option to look into.

Good amusement fun!
