The Simon Estes Riverfront Amphitheater is located downtown just south of City Hall at East First between Locust and Walnut. This beautiful location has been used for fun runs and walks, bike rides, political campaigns, concerts, class reunions, and weddings. It is the perfect place for any outdoor activity!
This is one of the cooler things you can do in Downtown Des Moines. Every week in the summer there are live concerts at the amphitheater. It is beautifully lit up, over looks the river, and you feel like you are somewhere more fun than Des Moines! The only thing that could be better about it would be free events. The concerts usually cost $8-25 dollars to get in.
The Simon Estes Riverfront Amphitheater is a great adult venue. Beautiful location - right along the river. You will primarily see concerts and activities geared towards teens and adults here. I have yet to see any thing for young children at this location.
The Riverfront Amphitheater is a great place to visit with kids. The amphitheater has walkways down to the river that are great to play and run around on. Check local schedules for Nightfall on the River and other outdoor music events. Most of which are open to families to squat on the lawn and enjoy the show (they do charge for some shows).
