We went to SDC when my daughter was only 3 months old. I was surprised to find 2 nursing stations in the park complete with rocking chairs, heaters, and changing tables. My daughter enjoyed the parade and all the magical Christmas lights. My husband and I found all the craftsmen and shows to be very entertaining. I don't know that it would have been fun for our baby, or even toddlers, if it wasn't Christmas time.
Advice: buy tickets before you go! Also, check eBay for tickets.
We love going to Silver Dollar City year round! They not only have wonderful exhibits and themes, but they have the best Santa Claus a kid could ever ask for. Parking is a bit far away, but totally possible due to the wonderful tram system that will take your from your car to the park. They have rides that accommodate all ages and a huge selection of food, too. If you are feeling like saving a little money, you can pack a picnic lunch and eat it inside the park. No returning to your vehicle! There are shows when you are ready for a little air conditioning, or heat, and a break to rest your weary legs. If you are planning on visiting more than once, then a purchasing a season pass would be your best option. Silver Dollar City is a must when visiting the Branson area!!
I love going to Silver Dollar City and have been going for years. I love watching the Craftsmen and women making their crafts. From woodworking to glass blowing to candle making, it's amazing to see these true artists at work. My little boy and I love making our own candles and dipping them when we go. If you go, you have got to eat a roasted corn on the cobb! YUM! There are rides for young and old alike! Our favorite is Fire in the Hole! An inside roller coaster that is so fun and scary!! There is so much to see and do, not only at Silver Dollar City but in Branson, too!
Silver Dollar City is great for families. There is a lot to do here. I recommend starting w/ their old fashioned breakfast. Then taking in some rides. Its neat to watch them blow glass and there is also a great candle making shop. The park is great for all ages.
They had a large variety of fun rides for younger kids plus ones that teens and adults would love. They also had carnival type games to play. There is water park and some non-water park rides that you got wet on so I suggest you bring swim suits and plan to spend the day, there are so many things to do, you won't soon be ready to leave!
Silver dollar is fun I wouldn't go if you kids are toddlers and under they wont remember and other than a few rides they probably wont enjoy anything else. Older kids will like the plays and to see the craftsman work. Branson is kind of like the little vegas but with more kids activities. Its a great vacation especially on a budget I recommend going for Christmas to see the parade or during 4th of july to see the fireworks show
I love LOVE Silver Dollar City! My husband calls it "steal your dollar city"!! But I love taking my kids here because they have this great play area for kids where they just run around and act crazy! I love that they love it and it's very family oriented. also has some great food and shows when you just want to take a break, you can by catching a good show or if you need to eat. I love this place!
Silver Dollar is great fun for the whole family. Its very family friendly! Silver Dollar City is themed in the 1900's and while there are a lot of rides and entertainment to behold there is also a lot of lost trades that you can watch craftsmen do. Things like blacksmithing, glass blowing, etc. There are age appropriate rides for everyone in the family.
This is a great amusement park nestled in the heart of the Ozarks. While parking can be pretty packed, there's decent transportation. Also,be ready to walk some steep inclines. Take good walking shoes and a lightweight stroller if you're pushing a little one. We loved how the park was built around the trees. Great atmosphere, a wide variety of rides (including toddler rides that parents can go on with kids). It's also gorgeous during Christmas. A truly unique experience!
Silver Dollar City is not an amusement park my kids really enjoy. It has the feel of a small fair. Bigger and more crowded, of course. The rides are not very good and I would rather see crafts at real craft fair. It could be good, but it just isn't. I do hear that the lights at Christmas are beautiful.
Silver Dollar City is a great place for the family. They have rides for the toddlers and rides for the adults. It's almost more like a family tradition for me. I would reccomend it to anyone! They have very good plays especially at christmas time check out Dicken's Christmas Carol!! It's simply amazing! You can bring your own snacks in if you want to save a few bucks because it can get pretty pricey. If your going more than one day in the year you should definitely invest in a season pass! It will also get you 10% off food purchases! Check out Silver Dollar CIty, you won't be sorry.
We get season passes to SDC and that saves alot of money espesially if you plan on going a couple of times. They have all kinds of different fests through out the year. and if you go to all of them you get a free collectable christmas orniment. and there is something for everyone .
We love Silver Dollar City! There are water rides for the kids (and dad) to enjoy, lots of little shoppes for mom, unusually decent food (for an amusement park), and lots of arts and crafts to watch while performed! Everyone is dressed in clothing from the "old world" and everyone is so kind. They have recently added a children's area that kind of reflects disney world, with a teacup ride and miniature rollercoasters for the kids!
A wonderful place for families who like to have fun together!
I grew up going to Silver Dollar City every summer as a kid, and now, as an adult, I can't wait to take my kids. I remember learning so much about candle making, taffy making, tin type photographs, and so much more. I loved the rides, and the kettle corn and the funnel cakes, but the best part of it for me was being able to see first hand someone blowing glass, and making horseshoes! I can't recommend SDC enough!
Our daughter was two - she did not have to pay to go. Took a stroller and was glad we did. The Christmas Parade they do is awesome, be sure not to miss it. She really enjoyed that part. I was also surprised that she even watched a few of the shows they put on too. I hear this year is their 50th anniversary and anyone turning 50 this year gets a FREE season pass.
World Fest is in April and runs for a bout a month. So besides the great rides, play areas, craftsmen demos (like the glassblower), shopping, and usual shows, there are international shows and events this month.
Tickets to SDC are very expensive for the size of the park, in my opinion. BUT if you are willing to spend about an hour researching places to stay in Branson during World Fest you'll find many of the hotels and resorts offer some sort of package deal (like stay two nights at a discounted price and buy 1 day SDC tickets through them and get another day free).
If you're willing to go in March or October the discounts get even deeper (and the park is less crowded so less time in lines).
Also, check SDC's website for special packages and special discount days.
I took my son there and we loved the mine restraunt. We had a lot of fun, and he loved seeing the different craftsmen, especially the glass blowers. I'd say the biggest down side is the price to get in! Its also very hilly, so if you are from a flatland area.... be sure to bring some IBProfin for you soon to be sore legs ;)
I grew up going to SDC and kept the tradition with my kids. They love to just go and spend the day playing in the park. There are so many things for families to see and do. I recommend Marvel Cave for families with older kids. My family LOVES the Christmas Celebration and look forward to it every year.
We just visited over the summer and had a great time. We loved the artisans doing their work (wish there were more) and the kids absolutely loved the water and foam ball areas. There was also a great assortment of rides for all ages and a great selection of food and goodies!
This one is quite pricey but fun.
There is something for everyone at Silver Dollar City! For one price, you can ride as many rides as you want. We usually go in the spring and fall when public school is still in session and our kids ride the rides over and over again! The food is delicious, but pricey like most theme parks, but if you by a mug, you can get refills much cheaper and bring it back each time you come. if you go more than 2 times/year, it's worth buying the season pass! you can also rent a stroller if you need to. there are lots of shops and musical shows to sit and watch. it is a great place for families to go!
