Sierra at Tahoe has low prices for lift tickets, lessons, and other expenses that make this ski resort a family favorites. Expert skiers and boarders will likely be bored; new skiers and children and adults looking to take it easy will love these shorter, less intimidating ski slopes.

Wild Mountain Ski and Snowboard camp for ages 4 to 12 is top notch. Day care programs available and kids 4 and under ski free. Good snow between 6,600- and 8,800-foot elevation; snow play on-site and a new tubing hill. At the Telemark and Backcountry Center, ask about the guided snowshoe tours, easy enough for kids ages 7 and up. You will find boarding terrain off every lift, from a 17-foot halfpipe to fifty tabletops and dozens of rails. At mid-mountain, you can rent snow bikes and scooters.
