Shoreline is a beautiful 700-acre park with a saltwater lake, 18-hole golf course, two restaurants, historic Rengstorff House, rolling grassy hills, and bay trails. Families love coming here for picnics, bike rides, stroller jogs and boat rides. There's a playground area that's based around a sunken ship that fun. Not very large, but adequate for a small group of children.
The park has 10 miles of trails, some paved, some dirt. Paved trails lead  past the golf course, around the lake, and along the tidal marshes and salt ponds. Some trails lead northwest to Palo Alto's Baylands Nature Preserve.
On-site restaurants include the Lakeside Cafe and Michael's Restaurant.

The phone number to the Boathouse is 650.965.7474 and the Café is 650.965.1745.
Shoreline is a great place to practice because the winds are very predictable. They are lighter in the mornings (5-8 knots until about 12:30pm) and gradually build in the afternoons increasing to 15-18 knots by 3:00pm. Typically this is the wind pattern March through September.

"Wonderful outdoor place!"

My family loves this huge outdoor park with a lake.  It's very nice and beautiful there, especially during the warm weather season.  They have a large lake where the family can rent paddle boats.  They have trails where you can also go biking, skating, walking, etc.  Many families picnic there.  They have a nice cafe area and sell ice cream.  We love to go there to have a nice relaxing day outside.  Great place!  Highly recommend.

"Shoreline Park - the Best Sunday Afternoon"

Shoreline Park is paradise for kids learning to ride a bike.  There are  miles of trails along the SF Bay - a cute little restaurant (that serves Dove Bars and Beer) and you can rent paddleboats and sail boats for a little afternoon watersport.
And when the kids are old enough to golf -- its a great place to learn.

"Lots to do for different ages"

My 10 year old niece loves the water activities, the 5 year old likes to ride her bike around the lake and my toddler loves the boat-shaped play structure next to the lake.  He also likes to watch kites fly in the kite area next to the dog run near the entrance of the park.  The only down-side:  not ideal for picnics--too much duck poop!

"walk, bike watch birds, play"

We love this place - our oldest can bike while we walk or run with the stroller. The kids love to watch the birds and the water. There is a nice playground not a lot of structures - just sand and a boat structure but no swings or slides, still fun. You can rent peddle boats too. The shoreline cafe is surprisingly pretty good.

"Boating lake and tidal marsh levees"

From the Baylands, you can bike all the way to Shoreline Park in Mountain View.  There is a Cafe by the lake, where windsurfers, canoes and rental pedal boaters abound.  There is a sandy play area with a large wooden boat.  Bike and walking trails along the levee, with a viewing deck for bird watchers.
