"Campgrounds"

Sesqui has a lot of great features for the area, especially the decent campgrounds. Having grown up in the area, we usually just went to the mountains in upstate SC for great camping, but if we just wanted a day trip, we went to Sesqui (now that I live in Utah and am completely spoiled by the mountains nearby, I'm really sad to be moving back to SC this spring). Not as picturesque, but the campgrounds are decently maintained. Since they don't require a long drive or hike to get to, you'd sometimes get rowdy crowds of drunk teenagers or college students. There was also a crime spree in the area a few years back, but I think they have been doing a lot to improve safety recently. In the summer, nights are very, very hot so bring lots of water and make sure you have a tent with good ventilation! Or, if you are going to sleep under the stars, wear lots of bug spray or you will get eaten alive by mosquitos!

"Sesquicentennial State Park"

Sesqui is a great place for family reunions picnicing with a group of children.  We have also gone on campouts with girl scout groups there.   The interpretive nature programs are usually very interesting. There is a new dog park available with the purchase of an annual pass.  While we have not used it yet, it looks like a fun place for dogs to run off-leash.
