Seattle Center in a very large complex area in downtown area. Within the center you will find a small amusement park, Space Needle, Seattle Children's Museum, Pacific Science Center-IMAX, Experience Music Project, and various restaurants. The center hosts many festivals and concerts. Make sure you check out the enormous fountain in the middle of the center that is coordinated to music.

"The Hub"

The Seattle Center is the hub of fun in Seattle.  There are plenty of things to do at the Seattle Center.  Not only can you visit the Space Needle, ride the monorail, check out the EMP or the Pacific Science Center (all paid attractions) but you cen certainly enjoy the free stuff that's available.  The big fountain is an interesting attraction (it dances to music, at least during the summer).  There always seems to be an event or two going on there too.  There are carnival rides (also paid attractions) and a food court with arcade.  The Children's museum is also on the premises

"Not just another park"

The Seattle Center is just that - the CENTER.  You don't have to go to the Spaceneedle or the Pacific Science Center to still get in a good day.   On warm days, stop by the huge fountain and spend your afternoon splashing around.  You can always make your way inside the food court or the many shopping experiences around town.  It seems as if when ever we visit Seattle, this truly is a hub of activity.  There are always concerts or activities in the area and plenty of things to see and do.

"Great Family Place"

This is a great tourist area for families with young kids.  The International Fountain is a perfect place to eat a picnic lunch.  The water spurts out all over to music and people play in the water during the summer.  You can walk to the Space Needle, they have some carnival rides, the Children's Museum, Pacific Science Center, and the Experience Music Project.  You can walk around without actually going into any of the "paying" echibits and still have fun with the younger kids.

"Seattle Center with young kids"

The Seattle Center is a whole tun of fun in one convenient area!  From here you can access the Pacific Science Center, Seattle Children's Museum, and tons of other stuff.  Our favorite is the International Fountain!  My kids are too little to go run and play in it (it's a LOT of water and can be intimidating!) but they love to sit up at the top and watch it.  They synchronize it to music, and the only better fountain I've seen is the Bellagio Fountain in Vegas.  This one is pretty spectacular too!

Tip: Bring a stroller (it's a lot of walking for little legs!) and plan on spending at least two hours there.  And don't forget the camera!

"More fun in warmer weather?"

The fountain in the middle of Seattle Center has the potential to be great fun, but our son was intimidated by it.  You have to walk through to get to The Children's Museum so on our way back we stopped to check it out.  Although it was the end of June the weather was still a little on the cool side and I was not willing to get soaked.  We watched for a while and older kids seemed to have a blast with the varying flow rates of the water.  I would like to go back with the little guy when he's a little older and the weather is a little warmer.   I think kids 3(if they are brave) and up would get a kick out of this.  Just be sure to bring a change of clothing.

"Many events and attractions"

There are SO MANY happenings here that you really have to see the calendar on there website. My Mom always took us to see the Nutcracker here.

Unfortunately the Fun Forest with the little kiddo rides closed October 2009.

Here is a generic list:

Sports events, Arts and Theater, IMAX, food court, rides, Monorail, Pacific Science Center, shops, skate park, Space Needle (Yummi!), The Children's Museum, shopping, huge fountain to play in, festivals, trade shows, Bumpershoot, Bite of Seattle, Winterfest, food court, EMP (Museum.)

"You must come here when you visit Seattle"

The Seattle Center is the name for a big collection of activities, including the Children's Museum, the Pacific Science Center, the Monorail, and the EMP/SFM.  But in addition to that, the Center on its own is a fun place to visit. In the Center House, you can find a nice assortment of fast-food restaurants and one sit-down restaurant. You'll definitely be able to find food for the whole family! There's also a small toddler playarea upstairs on the level above the eating area.

In the Center House, most weekends throughout the year, you will find some sort of cultural festival going on. My family lives close, so we've been able to experience a glimpse of the culture of Mexico, China, Korean, the Philippines, and France, to name just a few.  We love to watch the dancing and see the costumes and sample cuisine from these countries.

Outside the Center House you can find the gigantic International Fountain. This is a huge circular dome with water spraying out, choreographed to all sorts of music.  If the weather is above freezing,  you can usually watch people playing in the spray- or take part in the water play yourself!

All around the Center you will find great hidden fountains and statues, and even a large fountain/wading pool (hidden over by Key Arena). There is also a very pretty little Peace Garden.

This is a great place to bring your family- enjoy walking around and gazing at the Space Needle from below while you watch the water show at the International Fountain and get a bite to eat.
