If you cab it here, please make sure you make arrangements for the cabbie to pick you up at a certain time and get the cellphone number. There were dozens of people waiting up to an hour after calling for a cab. Those we saw that arranged in advance were all picked up right on time.
We got $8 off each ticket for 10 and olders thru visitsanantonio.com. If i lived within a couple of hours, I'd buy an annual pass-they were offering upgrades from the day ticket for a pittance.
I am an adult and I still love going to Sea World! I loved all of the shows that had and just wish we had been able to see all of them but there is always next time! The Shamu show is always my favorite one to see though. The staff was also very helpful and very informative about the different sea creatures which is always a good thing. If you are looking for a fun place to take your kids then this is the place to go. There is something for everyone here.
Sea world is a combination of a small zoo, amusement and water park. There was quite a crowd on the day we went, which is to be expected and the food was a bit of an overkill, but that is to be expected too. We enjoyed all exhibits, my 2 year old daughter especially. We had to offer her a number of bribes to get out of the place. Best liked: Shamu, Sea lion show, Dolphins to name a few. I am not a big fan of rides. I wanted to try one. But when I heard people screaming, I was like -Oh no!. Even without the rides, we had more than enough to do in one day.
We went to Sea World and it was a cool place to go. Everything there is way overpriced though. The lines were long and we really didn't get to do many things. We were able to catch the whale show and that was pretty awesome. We were not able to do anything really with the kids b/c the lines were so long. Not sure if we will be going back. Look for coupons to get in online or ask your hotel. We were able to save a little on the admission that way.
=) If your looking for a great time at an amusement park all ages in your family from 2-year-old to grandma and grandpa then this is definitely it! Your going to want to catch all the shows you possibly can, because there all simply amazing. The rides are great too & when we were there in the middle of summer ride lines were still very short. We rode the electric eel several times. If you have the choice between this and six flags when in San Antonio CHOOSE SEA WORLD!!! =) You won't regret it!
We live 3 hours away, but we LOVE to visit Sea World as often as possible. If you plan on going more than once in a year, it is worth it to purchase a year membership for a few dollars more. Also, go online to find coupons for $$ off of admission. Usually adult for a childs price. Going to all shows is a MUST! The Believe Shamu show brings me to tears every time...it's just so beautiful and amazing. By the end you'll be laughing at all the people in the splash zone!! The Sea Lion show is second on the must list. It's so funny and cute. And of course the Beluga/Dolphin show is great. Almost like it's mixed with a little Cirque de Soleil. Expensive to go, but worth every single penny!!!
What's not to love about Seaworld? Oh, perhaps the crowds. But how can you blame so many families for wanting to hang out at such a fun place. Great for toddlers to grandparents. We love the opportunities to feed the animals. We went many times before we took the time to feed the Lorikeets, after all... they are just birds, right? So much fun. Put it on the to-do list. Along with all the obvious things... see the shows, ride the rides, feed the dolphins. We avoid the peak summer days due to heat and crowds. My experience shows that the length of the parks hours directly relates to how busy the park is expected to be. We don't actually do any more or less on the short or long days, it just relates to how much waiting and navigating around other people will need to be done. Have a blast- and check for coupons or consider the season pass. Even if you are only there for a day, you get a coupon book with the season pass with tons of discounts for other guest passes and discounts throughout the park. NEVER pay full price for your ticket!!
The best way to enjoy this park is to obtain a season pass. However, if you are just visiting San Antonio, you should plan to spend an entire day here. Pack a picnic lunch, some swimware, sun screen, extra clothing (should Shamu splash you) and plenty of drinks (not in glass bottles or with straws please). I believe strollers are available for rental. Very kid friendy park. Strollers are welcome and easily parked when needed. Have Fun!
Sea World is definitely a favorite vacation spot for our kiddos. We went once and realized it was not much more $ to get a season pass than a one time ticket, so we did that and went back as often as we could. It takes at least 2 or 3 days to really see everything--especially in the summer time when the water park is open. We like that you can have fun on rides, but when you need a break from running around, you just stop into one of the shows to relax while being really entertained. We really love this place!
We took our daughter to this Sea World last summer, she is 3. She loved it so much she didn't want to leave. She got to hand feed dolphins twice, and loved watching the show with Shamu in it. There are lots of animal exibits to see. There are some rides, and lots of shows. There is a huge playground with a life size pirate ship, and a water play area. We didn't do the water play, it wasn't open when we went because it was too early in the summer still. But the playground was huge. You could spend more than one day here, you'd have to if you want to see everything. We will be going back here again for sure.
I've been to this location before (as a high school student) and I loved it; however, when we took our 3 year old daughter it rained 4" that day. Not a fun way to spend the day. She slept a lot as we waited out the rain. By the end of the day, they'd cancelled the shows (because of lightening) and there were only 10 of us in the Shamu show (which was cool in a weird way). The only thing our daughter remembers is that she got a cool Shamu poncho that day (even though we paid extra for dinner with one of the trainers and the animals). I will admit, I bought two of the BEST umbrellas that day. They were really great.
Love this Sea World! it is quite versatile. It has sea animals up close and personal. and rides for those that want a little amusement in their lives. It is quite enjoyable for families with those of all ages. Don't miss out on the live stage show. It is simply amazing!
I didn't know what to expect from Sea World when we arrived. It felt a lot like your typical carnival-style amusement park ( a bit disappointing) with a few water-themed rides. The real draw are the live animal shows including the Shamu show, a sea lion play (a personal favorite) and a Cirque du Soleil style show that incorporates many different types of sea animals, birds, and people. Kids will love all of the shows and older children will be pleased to get to ride some rides as well.
We LOVE Sea World San Antonio! We have been told that it is smaller than the others out there, but to us it's home!! VERY clean, family friendly, and child friendly. The water park is always immaculate! The staff is helpful, friendly, and I am confident going by myself with my kids and knowing that we are safe and going to have a fantastic time!!
Sea World is awesome. There is something new everywhere you look. We loved feeding the dolphins fish and watching the whale show. The penguin exhibit is amazing and I think you could spend a week there and still not see it all. The down side is that tickets are really expensive and at times there are too many people. If you have little ones the zoo is a better choice, but for older kids and adults, it's a great time.
We took our 3 and 1 year old boys to Sea World for the day and we all had a blast. There are so many amazing animal exhibits and the Shamu show is a MUST see. I would recommend bringing a "good" stroller, because the park is huge and there is a lot of walking. Also, I was able to bring in snacks and drinks for my little guy. The concession prices are outrageous (to be expected at a major theme park). There are also a ton of rides and roller coasters. I would also recommend bringing a change of clothes (and keeping them under the stroller). We sat in the "Splash Zone" at the Shamu show and were COMPLETELY soaked. It was a blast, but I was glad to have dry clothes for the kids to change into when we left the park.
we went to sea wold summer 2010 had a blast. the killer whalle ar always the best with kids and adults. we did the pay a full price ticket and child gets in free. The azul was also a hit with the kids we stayed at the park open to close! we rode the journey to atlantis which was a hit as well- prepared to get wet on that ride. The lost lagoon is a blast one good thing about that you dont have to rent tubes they are provided for free but it was hard to find them. ofcourse we ate in the car packed a cooler- food pricey- the park is so big theres things to do for every age!
We bought passes for two summers and our kids always looked forward to going to Seaworld! They loved the large play area in the middle with sandpits surrounding it. Fun rides for the kids and fun shows for them to watch. They also loved the splash area and would line up over and over again to play in it. Great place for all ages since there are roller coasters and rides for teenagers and up! Two missing stars since some of the park is a little older and the age can be seem in the way it's been up-kept but otherwise provides full days of family fun.
As Sea World goes, this was a bit of a disappointment. DO NOT GO IN THE SUMMER, PERIOD!! It was so hot it was hard to do anything. Some of the attractions were great, but having been to Sea World in San Diego, this was a far second. It felt dirty and old. Be sure that you aren't going on a Military day or it will be too crowded. If you have a choice, go to sea world somewhere else. children will still have fun here but it is a bit pricey as well.
We were somewhat puzzled by the combination of things to do at Sea World, but the bottom line is that there was plenty to do.
We visited during Christmas vacation and the weather was cool. I was pleased that the crowds were not unbearable. (I don't have any summer reference to go against, but I was expecting heavy crowds.)
If you're going to see Shamu's show, get there early! We got there 15 min before showtime and had to sit in the "splash zone." Everyone in the splash zone gets soaked due to some prompted tail-splashing by Shamu. My 3yo cried for 20 minutes after the show. The splashing wasn't fun for her at all. There is pre-show entertainment so you won't be bored if you get there quite early.
The shows were very well done and my favorite part of the day. Exhibits like penguins and sharks were also interesting. The Steel Eel roller coaster was a bit more than my 7yo bargained for but he was happy that he was tall enough to ride it. I'm glad we didn't have to pay extra for the Polar Express 4D experience, which was an 18-minute compilation of clips from the movie, presented in 3D with wind and snow effects thrown in.
Food in the park is not cheap, $7.19 for a kids meal of chicken strips, fries, and a drink. Best snack bargain we found was three cookies in a souvenir Shamu bowl for $3.49. The sugar cookies were big. I also found a decent side salad for $2.99. These were at the restaurant near Shamu Stadium.
We spent six hours at Sea World, which didn't include any water rides or waterpark due to the winter weather.
Parking is $15 or you can guarantee a close spot for $20. We rented a double stroller for $15 as well, which the kids enjoyed. Pushing it was like pushing a grocery cart, but it was better than no stroller at all.
Overall, not a cheap day but we found a lot to do.
Even tho it was a Texan December and the play area was wet and water too cold, we had a great time. Just to see all the great animals up close and feed the sealions and dolphins by hand. They also had other things to fill up the day, like a Sesame's Street short musical and 4D movie. My kids were too small for the roller coaster so did n't go there. All in, still a fun day for them and no crowds or long queues for anything.
