Scott Carpenter Park has a skate park as well as a playgroud, outdoor pool, ball fields. The Skatepark features an exciting "street-course " with the lure of rails, curbs, and free-flowing forms and bowls. The skatepark is free and open for skateboarders and in-line skaters. Helmets and pads are highly recommended. Hours are dawn to dusk, just like the park.
In the winter time, locals come here for sledding and tubing.
We love Scott Carpenter Park for its versatility and location. It's a perfect play area when we're out and about along 28th, 29th, or 30th Street. The spaceship is always fun for the kids to climb. The swings are huge and classic. We most recently discovered the skate park because of a skater friend's invitation. Our girls are 5, 3, and 1, and they LOVED riding their scooters and running around in the bowls at the far end of the park. We would recommend going early to avoid large numbers of "big kid" skaters. We had a great time, and now have one more thing to appreciate Scott Carpenter Park for!
Awesome all year round. The playground has a fantastic rocket (3 stories up!) that kids love. There's a huge field for frisbee, wiffleball, football, or an old fashioned game of freeze tag.
The Boulder Creek trail runs next to the park which is great for a job with a stroller or a bike ride for kids of all ages. The pool is a big hit as well (fee applies) with a slide for the bigger kids. I wish they had more features for pre-swimmers. Skate park and ball fields as well.
We came for a picnic lunch and the tables are shaded which is nice in the summer. The park is also popular in the winter because there's a great sledding hill.
