The science center is nice, especially for kids 5 and up. I would say that there just isn't enought for the little ones to do. They have a really nice cafe to have lunch in with a lot of healthy options. There is also an IMAX theatre with a lot of nice features.
My older kids had fun here (5 years old +). It was a little too involved for my younger children. They have fun, interactive activities and an awesome employee who did a fantastic show on kitchen chemistry. My kids really enjoyed making their own slime and flubber.
There's a little bit of something for everyone at the Science Center. Including for the big kid in you! The Science Center will take about a half a day to tour and I'd try to planning during the week to avoid overcrowding. I believe you can get guided trips or go through at your own pace!
I brought our four children (ages 7,5,3 and 1) here one cold February morning when my hubby was at a business meeting. We had a great time and really enjoyed the exhibits, many of which were hands-on and most appropriate for ages 2-10. It was a weekday morning and in spite of having very few visitors, the demonstrations were on as long as we were waiting at the doors. So my little ones got to participate (yep - those are my children that you see in the dry ice demo photo)!! The cafe was reasonably priced. I wasn't planning to stay for lunch, figuring it would cost a lot, but we were able to find inexpensive and nutritious items. Overall we had a **very** pleasant time, even though I was six months pregnant and without my husband in an unfamiliar location with four little ones.
The exhibits here appeal to all ranges of ages, from the special toddler/preschool area (which older kids may enjoy as well) to the make-your-own-planetarium-show, which is better for older kids. Special events are kid-friendly, and there's a wide variety of exhibits found in the museum. Staff are friendly and helpful.
