I Love Love Love this Library as do my 4 children all under 12. The reading room for tots is like entering an enchanted world, who wouldn't love to be Alice here. From movies to cds and computers to games from building to pretending, coffee shop with snacks....wait...did I mention they have books??? 5 stars here :)
When we moved away from Schaumburg, my first wish was to take the library with us. The kids area was so much fun with my daughter. The reading area is a forest with toad stools, benches and a caterpillar to sit on.
Books, movies and cds are easy to find and reachable for even the shortest kids.
You can play with trains, computers, puzzles even a wood dollhouse.
For adults, swing by the cafe for a coffee or even lunch then head over to the fiction section to read by the roaring fireplace.
We greatly miss living so close to there.
This library is one of the best that I've ever been to for kids. The children's section is really cute. Lots of little stools and tables in a treehouse-like area for toddlers and kindergartners. My little guy kept wanting to sit there to read book after book.
Then, when the books got boring, we were able to borrow trains to play on their train table and puzzles to do on the carpet. Older kids were playing board games nearby. Note that you need to have a library card to borrow these. We're not from the area, but my parents live nearby, so I borrowed theirs.
The books and videos are very well stocked. This is truly a fabulous suburban library!
They have a little cafe in the library too. We didn't eat anything there; nothing looked all that appetizing, but there's a huge supermarket right next door in case you get hungry.
