The Sawdust Festival is part of the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts. Its a chance for local artists and artisans to showcase their wares alongside some more mass produced articles. It is an experience, however not for all kids.
Nestled up against the wall of the Laguna Canyon, this festival is intimate and homey. This is the place to be to see the less well known artists, and buy some cute jewelry, and knick-knacks from some very talented people. This is in stark contrast to the glossier more refined exhibition across the street at The Pageant Of The Masters (And thats not to say that either of these exhibits are bad, they are not they are both exceptional, just different...)
The benefit to the Sawdust Festival is that the Artisans of note are actually the people manning the booths more often than not. The bad thing is that all their crafts out and within reach of little hands. In the summer, the festival can get quite crowded and your children needs to be watched closely.
Outside of those issues, the Sawdust Festival is a great way to acquire some very original works while getting to know the people behind the work.
