"Camping near Woodstock NY"

Every year it has become a tradition to go camping for our son's birthday.  We have stayed at several KOA campground but this one near Woodstock, NY was great.  The owners were super friendly and had good advice.  We already knew the town of Woodstock and love it so that is why we chose to stay close to it.  The campground has pool, bounce house, mini gold, horse shoes, small pond for fishing, hiking trail (lots of mosquitos-wear bug spray), an actual fire truck that they give rides on, pool and game room and there was more but I can't remember it all.  We brought our 7 month old daughter and 4 year old son and stayed in one of the Kamping Kabins.  Just enough civilization for a baby but you still feel like you are camping.  Enjoyed smores but the campfire and BBQ on the grill.  We also ate yummy indian and some other fresh foods in Woodstock.  On our last day there we caught the drum circle which includes tons of people & kids in the center of town, definitely worth seeing if you have the time.  If you are wondering this isn't where Woodstock took place (is was about 40 miles away) but where many of the Woodstock generation live so the energy, art & music from that time period lives on!!

From the KOA website:
"A land of lush forests, mountain peaks and valleys, rivers, lakes and ample legend, the Catskills lie just a hundred miles north of New York City. The Saugerties/Woodstock KOA, tucked comfortably among 40 acres of maple and pine trees, puts you front and center in this thriving vacationland. Shop for antiques in Saugerties and arts and crafts in Woodstock, both charming villages. Festivals and fairs abound in summer and during brilliant fall foliage days, celebrating everything from jazz and crafts to garlic and classic cars. Kids stay busy on weekends with KOA's crafts programs, fire truck rides and hayrides. The catch-and-release pond holds catfish, bass and more. KOA's pool and game room add to the fun. Spend time with nature on the newly expanded nature trail or play nine holes of disc golf on the wooded course."
