At first glance you wouldn't think Santa Row, an upscale shopping district, would have much to offer families with young kids besides overpriced onesies, but they actually have a great area to play including a fun play structure and a large expanse of clean astroturf to run on. Situated adjacent to restaurants and Starbucks this is a great place to meet up with other mommies for a playdate or to bring the family for lunch on a warm Saturday afternoon.
its like walking through a movie set. high end shopping with a claasy atmosphere. i almost felt like these sort of places where a think of the past. santanta row has a great family atmosphere. a few open places for the kids to play together and a great place to get a nice walk in for the day. so many cute shops all over and ofcorse home to my favorite restuarant, maggianos. beautiful during the holidays and great familt events. its a must for all mothers.
This place is nice for adults to take a stroll with the kids. It is geared more towards adults, however, they do have an area where the kids can hang out and play. There is a playyard with a play structure and also an area where the kids can play with la arge size chess. Thye have farmers market on sundays. The kids might get bored after a while, though.
Santana Row is a fun place for the kids and toddlers during special events and the holidays. Once a month they have a mommy and me on the row afternoon. They usually have a live performer, like a clown, kids musician or high school band and it's cute to see the kids rock out to the music. Sometimes they'll have easels set up for drawing and other free giveaways. It gets super crowded, so prep. yourself. During Nov. '08 we went and had a memorable time meeting Santa, ate dinner at Pluto's and danced to the music. Their playground is super small. If you just want to people watch with your baby, there's a Baskin Robbins and seating outside.
This shopping area is upscale and trendy. Not really the first place you'd think to take kids, but there are some little bakeries that are yummy that they might like. Also, it would be a good place to stroll around with a stroller if a mom (or dad) wants to shop or browse. It's definitely not somewhere we would go all the time, but nice for a chance of pace. The restaurants are definitely pricey here!
A unique, European-style arcade of upscale shops and cafes makes this a nice stop for a couple of hours. Between the sidewalks, a wide, tree-shaded park is filled withfountains and water features, gardens, and sixteen chess tables with pieces provided. Sit in an outdoor cafe, browse the Sunday farmers’ market, catch an outdoor movie or live music in the summertime, or check your e-mail with the wireless access available. As for the glittering boutiques and shops, either endanger your credit cards or limit yourselves to window-shopping.
Santana Row is a trendy yet fun place to go. They have many delish restuarnts, bakeries, and chic stores. What a great place just to walk around on a sunny spring or summer day.
Santana Row is an outside mall right across the street from Valley Fair mall. Both places are perfect to spend a day!
There aren't many hip or happening places in San Jose. Santana Row happens to be one of the only places with a Euro-chic atmosphere, fine dining, and shopping options (oh, that and they have a Pinkberry, yay!). The scene lends itself to a seen or be seen clientele (me definitely being in the seeing category), but that's what comes from the lure of Gucci bags and luxe trappings all of which can be appreciated from near or afar. There are plenty of alfresco dining courtyards and cute children's boutiques, and the kiddies all love the giant chess board. There's a huge array of family friendly restaurants (Pasta Pomodoro, Pizza Antica, The Counter to name a few) and live music every weekend.
Moms on the Row offer a variety of seasonal and holiday free gatherings, and a Monthly stroller day.
You wouldn't think that a high end shopping center would have much to offer kids, but this one does. The outdoor chess board was a real hit with my son who was about 6 at the time. They have a yummy ice cream shop, some beautiful fountains, and other fun elements to walk around, enjoy and explore.
I remember seeing some fancy maternity shops as well. This is a fun short outing with the little ones with plently to entice mom as well.
I've taken my son here many times to just simply walk around. He likes the diversity of the people here and the Ben N Jerry's. I like to window shop and just relax in a nice outdoor shopping area. Could never buy anything practical here, but always have a great time! There are shops for everyone though, from Gucci to Boarders to Anthropologie to Jacadi to Pete's!
