"Fun, Educational Trip for Kids"

We spent a week sailing throughout the San Juan Islands. When we dropped off our boat in Friday Harbor on the last day, we decided to try the whale watching tour. We were not disappointed. The trip lasted a couple hours and was worth it just for the beautiful boat ride. We were able to see three different pods of orcas--one group was circling around a small island rounding up prey in unison. Another was in open water. We saw a baby and its mother.

Seeing the orcas was spectacular, but I was also surprised at how educational the trip was. The host explained the difference between the local orcas and the migrating orcas, in terms of their behavior and diets. The tour held the kids' interests and was a great way to end our trip to the San Juans.
