The Sabine NWR protects a section of marshland in Southeast Louisiana. The region is filled with wildlife, including thousands of birds and plenty of alligators.
There is a one mile trail that leads out to a viewing platform above the marshland.
Sabine NWR protects a rare ecosystem, the wetland prairies of Southeastern Lousiana. It is home to alligators, swamp rabbits, nutria, and thousands of birds.
There is a very nice 1 1/2 mile, partially paved (and stroller friendly) walk called the Blue Goose Trail which ends at a nice viewing platform up above the wetlands. This is also a great place to fish or crab so bring you lines and baskets and catch some dinner!
Disclosure: I visited the Sabine NWR as part of my tour of the Creole Nature Trail as a guest of the Lake Charles/Southeastern Louisiana CVB. They did not ask that I express any particular opinion and all opinions are entirely my own.
