"Healthy, Happy Chicks for Sale!"

The name Rural Supply is misleading.  This adorable hardware store is located smack in downtown Los Gatos, just down the street from wonderful restaurants and shops.

I brought my daughters here this afternoon to buy our spring chicks!   Rural Supply gets a shipment of ~200 day-old chicks every Thursday in the winter- usually a mix of female Ameraucanas, Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Red's etc. They are $3/each.  Call for exact availability.  

This store, as well as Close Feed in Hayward, are your best bets for healthy chicks.  Half Moon Bay Feed and Fuel has chicks too, but the cages are kinda dirty and the chicks often have "pasty butt", a colloquial farmers term for chick diarrhea.
