This is a fun touristy thing to do with your husband or friend. The food and alcohol are ok. Young children would be bored to tears and would not want to stay seated. Your money could be better spent in other ways. Not a bad experience just one for the tourists. I think packing a gourmet picnic on the beach at sunset could be just as satisfying and probably more romantic. If I had to do this again I might try a more upscale hotel but again the whole luau thing is very touristy.
THE LUAU IS CLOSED UNTIL 1/1/09. PLEASE CALL TO CONFIRM RE-OPENING.
In Waikik,i the longest-running, and currently the only luau is held at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel on Monday nights, 6:00 to 8:30 P.M. The cost is $97 for adults, $53.50 for children ages five through twelve; kids younger than five are admitted free.
