If your kids, or yourself, love fossils, this is the place to go. There is a large collection of fossils of an assortment of animals. Also, a "dig site" for kids to discover their own fossils. There are many hands on activities as well.
For the dinosaur lover in your family, this place is an absolute must! First off, you take your picture in front of a green screen where they super impose a dinosaur with it's mouth open. We fed our son to the dinosaur and he loved it! Next, you wander through dinosaur exhibits and the best part is that there is plenty of hands on exhibits for the kids to touch! For smaller children, there is a small play area where you can jump like a dinosaur, make a take home rubbing of a dinosaur and play like a paleontologist and search for dinosaur bones. If your kids are patient, I highly recommend one of the tours. The tour guides are very informative and entertaining. The gift shop is a great place to shop for gifts for the dinosaur enthusiast - books, puzzles, even dinosaur shoes!
My son has gone here a couple times & has a great time. When he sees T-Rex he says "RAWR!" haha. Each time we have gone it has been a little different with new animals or discoveries which is refreshing & makes it exciting each time. The hands on exhibits are great for slightly older children but still fun for adults even. It is a fun place where you actually learn something.
The Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center is a very well designed museum filled with disosaur bone recreations and skeletons, as well as many hands on activities for young children. The Paleo Playground has a place for kids to make rubbings of dinos and leaves, feel inside boxes to guess what is inside (one has fossilized dinosaur poo, much to my children's delight!), and a box filled with sand and tools for an archeological dig.
