I love eating around this area! There are a lot of great restaurants with Zachary's and Crepe Vine being our favorites! It's not really a place for kids to run around, but if your child is okay with being in a stroller, it's a nice place to walk around. Yum, I'm getting hungry just thinking about the food there. :)
Rockridge is great for eating, not really for kids to be running around though. My favorite places to eat here on around rockridge is crepe vine, amazing food and crepes! They even serve breakfast all day long, which i really enjoy and the kids as well. They have amazing homemade lemonade. big portions as well so you can share too if you' like. i also really like cactus taquera amazing Mexican food!
This moderately long stretch of shops is a great spot to get the stroller out and walk. So many little shops, with a fair number geared towards parents. Rockridge Kids is a highlight for toddlers with their excellent toy area. The Pasta Shop at Market Hall will offer breadsticks to keep your child happy while you place your order (and BTW, I've ordered meals for holidays immediately post-partum for pickup by my husband -- the easiest, most delicious meals we had with our newborn) What child wouldn't consider it a special event to stop at Bittersweet for a chocolate anything? Most of the restaurants are kid friendly, though changing tables seem to be difficult to find sometimes (Rockridge Kids has one but wow, what a crazy experience). If you're into strolling for exercise, be forewarned, it's easy to consume more calories here than you burn. One other warning: It's not cheap, though samples alone can stave off hunger on the cheap.
Spend an afternoon strolling, noshing, and shopping in a charming, leafy neighbor-hood that seems lost in the early twentieth century. Shop the fresh produce, fruit, cheese, and bakery vendors at the pleasant, open-air Market Hall; peruse the spetacular tile murals at the BART station; buy outdoor- and nature-oriented books and gifts at Sierra Club Books. Grab burgers at Rocky’s, Chicago-style pizza at Zachary’s, satay at Sabuy Sabuy Thai, toys and games at Rockridge Kids, and a treat at Buttercup Bakery.
