Roche Harbor has long been a favorite and unique destination for many travelers seeking to explore the best of the San Juan Islands. Located on the northern tip of San Juan Island, the historical company town stands next to the picturesque harbor and offers some of the most spectacular sunsets in the Pacific Northwest.
For family-oriented dining, Lime Kiln Cafe will serve you up a hearty breakfast and a great choice of lunch options.

This resort is on the northern point of San Juan Island.  Friday Harbor is also on this island and is the point of departure for the ferry.  Friday Harbor is also a really great town to wander around (or stay in).

"Great place for a family vacation!"

We have been coming here for years.  It is always a stop on our boating trip through the San Juan Island and is a definite favorite.
Roche harbor was originally a commercial town established by the McMillen family.  In more recent times it has been turned into a full resort with restaurants, shops, a grocery store, condos/vacation houses, a spa, and has always had lots of recreational options.  There is plenty of hiking (including through the McMillen Family cemetary and to their historical monument...may sound ominous, but it is through some lush forests and is really beautiful).  As a little girl walking through there my imagination would go wild.  My little guy liked watching the leaves and the birds and just enjoyed the walk.  There is also a pool and I think there is tennis also (we have used the pool, but never played tennis).  There is also a Sculpture Garden to walk through.  The sculptures are changed out periodically, and it is a small fee to wander the field.  There is also entertainment outdoors for folks (summer concerts).
There are lots of lodging options around the resort, if you don't float in on your own.  There is also a US Customs office here to check back in if you are coming across from Canada.
A great place to spend some time...we always love it!
