Perched on the edge of a bulge in the St. Johns River known as Lake Monroe, Sanford is the perfect place from which to embark on a narrated tour of the historic, wilderness-fraught waterway. (The town is also known as the Celery Capital of the World, but don’t tell your kids that or they’ll never want to go.) One of the most popular tours is aboard this replica of a 1940s steamer for lunch or dinner and dancing.
