Riding a small river boat along the beautiful San Antonio river flanked with large cyprus trees and towering hotels is a fabulous way to enjoy the city.  Lots of history gets told by the tour captain with a bit of humor thrown in.  Kids under the age of 6 may have trouble sitting still and listening for the length of time for the tour so judge according to your child's interest level whether this would be a great activity for your family.

Taking the Rio Taxi up the Museum Reach extension of the river takes the boats through the locks.  This is a great way to show kids how locks work on rivers as the boat is lifted up 9 feet.  We really enjoyed our trip!
