Project Surf Camp is a non-profit camp held during the summer months that allows children with special needs to get into the ocean and try doing something different! The one-on-one instruction assures safety and fun for our little loves and teaches them a different type of recreation therapy. "Project Surf Camp uses surfing, the beach, and other ocean activities as an educational modality to build self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-efficacy in individuals with special needs. We further provide opportunities to build social skills, improve physical fitness, develop healthy outlets for stress reduction, and foster independence"- their website.
Although, personally, my special needs son hasn't done this (probably next year), several moms that I'm friends with have taken their kiddos to Project Surf Camp and they all LOVE it! They think the instructors are wonderful and very attentive and their kiddos are begging for more! :)
