A.K.A. The Reptile Zoo, Prehistoric Pets has lots of exotic reptiles, snakes and the like that my young kids enjoyed seeing. Upon entry, you will see Asian monitor lizards behind glass and a pond filled with fish and turtles. For a small fee, you can buy food to feed these. There is a $5 charge to see the other animals but kids 3 and under are free. During our visit, there was a huge lizard and tortoise roaming free in the store. My kids just adored being able to be so up close and touch them. We also saw other visitors get to hold smaller lizards and a snake! The store was pretty busy due to parties going on and it felt a little tight space-wise at times, but if you're up for seeing some unique critters, this is a great place. Don't miss Thelma and Louise, the two-headed snake! The odor in the store may bother some, but what can one expect from all the animals?
This is not your typical puppy/kitty pet store. My boys have been fascinated by the hundreds of turtles and fish swimming in the pond, repulsed by the smell of the large desert tortoise and fascinated with watching a large snake swallow a mouse whole.
This is a great place to visit for an hour, or take a field trip to. Preschoolers to elementary age kids love it. On occasion, there is a snake to touch, if an employee is walking around with one. The rest are safely behind glass. There are glass cages from floor to ceiling, so your young kids can see right at their eye level.
Birthday parties and group events can be held here as well.
