"Wonderful Lake Tahoe Beach"

Pope Beach is one of our favorite beaches in Lake Tahoe.  Although the sand is a little course (as opposed to fine sands at ocean beaches), it's still fun to dig in with a bucket and shovel. It's not good for sand castles, though.  The parking lot is close to the water, so it's easy to drag a cooler, chairs, umbrella, blanket, towels, beach toys, and kids to a cozy plot of beach sand to make camp for the day.  The bathroom facilities are nice and nearby, and there are BBQ facilities.  The long and sandy beach is surrounded by forest and has amazing views of the lake.  It's a very tranquil place and a good way to spend a peaceful day with the family.

What to bring:  Food, snacks, drinks (no food for sale nearby), bikes (great bike trail), inflatables, sunblock, towels, and alertness (no lifeguards)

Nearby Attraction: Camp Richardson,  Camp Richardson Ice Cream Parlor (HWY 89 South of Pope), Emerald Bay and Vikingsholm (HWY 89 north of Pope), Taylor Creek Visitor Center (HWY 89 north), Tallac Historic Site (HWY 89 South)
