Beautiful sandy beach on Lake Tahoe's southwest shore.
Pope Beach is one of our favorite beaches in Lake Tahoe. Although the sand is a little course (as opposed to fine sands at ocean beaches), it's still fun to dig in with a bucket and shovel. It's not good for sand castles, though. The parking lot is close to the water, so it's easy to drag a cooler, chairs, umbrella, blanket, towels, beach toys, and kids to a cozy plot of beach sand to make camp for the day. The bathroom facilities are nice and nearby, and there are BBQ facilities. The long and sandy beach is surrounded by forest and has amazing views of the lake. It's a very tranquil place and a good way to spend a peaceful day with the family.
