This is one of my favorite places to hang out with family and friends. There is a beach, a pool, ice skating, boat riding, live concerts, and of course of amusement park rides. The Kiddie section is where I spend most of my time when I'm with my toddler and my 5 year old granddaughter. They love it. I like the live concerts. My favorite is when I sit down with my beverage and enjoy the shows while my oldest kids run around and enjoy the activities.
This Art Deco amusement park, built in 1928, was the first family fun park of its kind and is now a National Historic Landmark. Many of the more than forty rides are original, like the wooden Dragon Coaster and painted carousel, but many are newer, and younger children will love the toddler-size Kiddy Land. Cool off at the nearby crescent beach with a swim in the Sound. Take a dip in the Olympic-size pool, or go ice-skating. Rent a rowboat on the lake, play a round of miniature golf, or stroll the boardwalk. The 170-acre Edith G. Read Natural Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is right next door if you want to escape the crowds—and Playland can get very crowded on weekends.
