Taking a stroll on the pier is always a must when I visit Pismo Beach. There isn't really anything on it except a little shop for people fishing and little snacks. The views ocean and the coastline are nice.
Sometimes I like to stop and watch the "surfers". If your super lucky sometimes you will see a seal swimming around the pier. All in all it's a nice walk for the whole family or you can have lunch at one of the picnic tables.
This is a fun walk for all ages. We enjoy watching the many fishermen that set up on the pier. You can rent gear at a very reasonable price. The pelicans, sea gulls, and pigeons all add to the fun of the day. It can be cool out over water which is great to cool off on a hot day. Just off the pier are numerous restaurants and shops with many unique items.
I am not a huge fan of Pismo Beach, it is always crowded, you can never get parking & I just don't love it. Here on the Central Coast there are much more beautiful beach spots that you & your family can enjoy! The pier is fun, as any pier is, but I just don't enjoy going there!
This is a really popular beach for tourists and locals both. It's right in the heart of downtown within walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and hotels. I really recommend Splash Cafe; they have the best food around... especially their fish n chips! There is also a yummy cinnamon bun place, an ice cream place, and a bowling alley to take the kids. It gets a little crowded, especially during the high season, but if you can handle the crowds it's definitely worth it!
The Pier at Pismo Beach in California is a fun place to let the kids run around. My 3 year loves to chase the birds up and down the pier! Watch out though, because there is bird poop everywhere! The pier has several benches where you can sit and relax as well.
Pismo Beach is a beautiful beach with good size waves for surfers and boogey boarders. It's one of the largest beaches in the county and has everything you could want or need at a beach. Art shops, clothing stores, food, ice cream, cinnamon rolls, kite shops, vendors outside, rentals, and much more. It's great fun to fish off the pier, sunbathe, see who can build the largest sandcastle, and play in the ocean to your heart's content. The only downside is that it's packed with people from about mid-June to mid-August. :)
The Pismo Pier is perfectly located for a whole lotta fun! Go fishing off the pier or just walk down it and check out the surfers and swimmers. There's an arcade and quite a few quaint little shops to browse. The beach itself is great. The sand is perfect, it's not rocky, it gently slopes and there's a little play area with a slide and swings for when the kids need to take a break from the walk or the waves.
Personally, I try and avoid the pier during the summer months when tourists are everywhere! There are some cute shops near the pier and you can fish off the pier without a license. Might be better for the 8 years old and up crowd though. Not much for the younger kids.
Our family vacations to Pismo Beach at least once a year and we always make sure to take a stroll down the pier. There isn't anything "special" about it, but it is great to sit and watch the surfers, fisherman and the occasional dolphin pass by. One thing to remember is watch out for all of those seagulls! They are pains!
This 1,200-foot pier reopened in 1986. Headquarters for annual celebrations such as the July 4th Fireworks, Clam Festival (October), and Holiday Tree Lighting. Great for strolling or fishing, but beware of nippy winter winds. Or rent some poles and try to catch your family dinner of perch or bass.
My girls really love to watch the pelicans try to swipe fish from the fishermen. Pismo is a great beach, usually not too crowded, and stays well-maintained. This is the beach I grew up going to, and I still enjoy taking my own family here! Also, one of the best places to watch fireworks on the Fourth of July!
