The Pioneer Museum is a great opportunity for the kids to see and experience the way folks in rural Alabama lived in the 18th/19th century. When you enter the log cabin, guides will cook cornbread while they explain how they cleaned, slept, and cooked as well as other anecdotes of rural life. There are several outbuildings with living history demonstrations and the main building often has quilters, smithys, or other demonstrations as well . The tour guides here are hands down the best I have seen at a living history type museum - they are awesome with children and groups! They are a bit from restaurants, so plan accordingly or pack a picnic lunch. A great day trip and way to see Alabama!
