At Piedmont Environmental Center (an environmental preserve named for Rebecca Rhodes Smothers), we make environmental education fun for children and adults of all ages. Nature is not just for children.
We have eleven miles of hiking trails on 376 acres – preserved and protected for your education and enjoyment.
Our qualified naturalists are waiting to share the beauty and wonders of our outdoor classrooms with you and your family.
Located at High Point City Lake, this nature preserve, with a staff of naturalists, includes a nature store and a center with small animal exhibits. There is also access to Greenway Trail, an 8-mile walk. In addition the center conducts hands-on family workshops on topics such as stargazing, birding, cultivating wildflowers, and mushrooms.
