"Lovely timepass"

The Phipps is truly a gem. Even my toddler likes it. He doesn't pay so much attention to the flowers, but he loves their rain forest area. It is full of waterfalls and has a very nice fish pond. The do a story time there a few mornings a week that is geared towards preschoolers. In the summer there is a nice outdoor garden to run around in and if you go on the right day (this year it was Wednesdays) there is even a farmers market out front. Over the holidays they had a fun model train exhibit set up that my toddler really enjoyed.

"butterfly room"

the butterfly room will keep kids of all ages entertained. you can walk around or just sit and let them land on you. don't forget your camera. this is a nice place to push a stroller. Toddlers probably won't be interested but older kids might. They change the flowers at certain times of the year but call ahead before you go. I've gone before when they are "in between" specialty gardens and then you don't see much... Its a nice place for pictures--had my wedding photos done there--I've seen highschoolers dressed up getting their pics taken infront of various flower displays. there is a cafe.

"Fun with the Family"

Inside the Victorian glass structure of the Phipps Conservatory, you can see hundreds of orchids, palms, ferns, and other plants. The Japanese Courtyard Garden has an excellent collection of bonsai. In winter the indoor gardens soothe your cabin fever, and in warm weather you can enjoy both indoor and outdoor gardens and fountains. Kids will especially enjoy the stegosaurus topiary in the Fern Room, the bizarre Bomarzo statue in the Stove Room, and the Discovery Garden. During the winter holiday season, the conservatory hosts a Garden Railway and winter flower show.
A recent expansion includes a tropical-forest conservatory, new greenhouses, and a new welcome center.
