Enjoy fresh fish found locally and globally at Phil's Fish Market. The eatery is family friendly and has meals for kids, even if they don't like fish.
We take an annual trip to Moss Landing Beach and then to Phil's Market in the winter in December. Yes, you might think we're a little coo-coo, but we started the tradition before we had kids and have made the trip ever since...going on 5 years now. We've been lucky to have had blue skies everytime we've visited the beach and you didn't need a jacket either. Bring your sand toys, camera to tape the memories. Basically there are a handful of people there on the beach in December, so you can look for shells, build sand castles and enjoy the view. After our trek to the beach, we go over to Phil's where it is busy, busy. Excellent cioppino, which we usually bring a container to buy some and take home, kid's menu as well. Fresh fish to look at and entertain the toddlers, lots of seating inside and on the outside (covered) patio.
This is a kind of fish market/ fast food restaurant/ deli. The food is not cheap, but has items that are moderately priced. Most of the fish is freshly caught and delicious. It is very casual and kid friendly. A fun local spot to stop for a bite as you are driving to Monterey or heading to Elkhorn Slough.
