"Mediocre playspace"

Pershing Park has potential.  It is well located in a gorgeous, safe, clean, wonderful Burlingame neighborhood. It could be so great!!!  Instead, the poorly designed space is a little depressing.  There is a lovely, jasmine covered arbor with benches that would be a great place to sit and relax, but it is too far away from the playground for moms to be able to keep an eye on their kids.  And keep an eye on their kids they must, because this is a completely unfenced play area.

The sandbox sand is totally gross.  We have been coming to this park for 4 years, and it has never been replaced!!!  They just dump a load of new sand on top once a year or so.  Ick.  The one redeeming part of the sandbox had been a nifty water spigot that kids could use to build sandcastles.  However, due to budget cuts etc, the spigot has been turned off and now sits randomly in the middle of the filthy sandbox.  Like I said, its a little depressing.

The play structure itself is small, and the plastic slides need to be replaced.

There are NO bathrooms at this park.  Seating is very limited, so you will probably have to sit on the concrete steps in the hot sun.  In my book, this park is a major fail.
