Considered Wisconsin's most complete park, Peninsula is also its most popular camping destination, with 468 family campsites. Every year, families and friends return to Peninsula to picnic, hike, bike, boat, fish, golf and swim during spring, summer and fall. Winter offers cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding and snowmobiling. Camping, nature programs, and sightseeing are offered year-round.
Special attractions include the historic Eagle Bluff lighthouse, an 18-hole golf course, Horseshoe Island, an outdoor musical theater, and a sand beach with concessions and rentals.
I absolutely LOVE it at this Park!! My family and I get there about 2-3x's each season, but if I could I would be there so much more! This place is so beautiful and peaceful. Lots of walking and biking trails with amazing views of the water. There are showers too! This is a great thing if you are tenters. Rain or shine I cannot get enough!!
This park is the best! Awesome views, camping is the best- not a bad site in the place! Great hiking, and biking trails! The park is so big and also offers play areas in the campground part! We love the historic stops such as the lighthouse and the history they provide on each stop! This is hands down a must visit and camp with your family!
Peninsula State Park is a fabulous State Park within the beautiful Door County tourist area. Nestled just outside of the quaint town of Fish Creek you will find this beautiful Wisconsin State Park. The park offers miles of hiking and biking trails. The Nature Center staff is friendly and staffed also by volunteers of the park. They also offer great kid friendly nature classes in addition to a cute little gift store with prices starting at .25 cents! A gorgeous beach which also offers a playground, bike rentals, kayak rentals, food, snacks and a small gift shop/store. There is also an outdoor amphitheater offering professional plays through out the summer and fall season. There are four great campgrounds within the park and a challenging golf course. Venture outside of the park and you'll find orchards, towns, shopping, restaurants and wineries.
We really enjoy this park. There is a lot of history here and plenty to see and do for all ages. There are playgrounds for young children and various hiking trails or different lengths and difficulties. The biking trails are great and the scenery is beautiful. Come with plenty of energy and leave tired but happy!
Peninsula State Park has something for everyone. The park features miles and miles of walking trails, with convenient bike rentals by the lodge. Swimming and sailing are readily available at multiple landing points throughout the park. Campsites are well maintained and orderly, with facilities within easy walking distance. The nearby town has dozens of shops, all featuring different themes for the avid shopper. Local restaurants offer great discounts during different times of the year, and feature delicious foods and drinks unique to the area. I would definitely recommend this as a good travel destination for a family with children.
If you're in Door County and need some outdoor time, this is a great state park. Beautiful area. A great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the streets of Door County.
Pack a lunch and explore the park for the day. There's a lookout tower to climb too. A great outdoor location in Door County.
