Fun arts center for kids of all ages, but especially for little ones.
The Hands On For Kids Gallery is a great place to bring your favorite young artists. Designed for families with young children, the Gallery is open daily for self-directed activities. Twice weekly, on Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm, PFAC has their special Paint Day. Other groups should call or email the Education Department (757) 596-8175 to arrange a group tour and/or hands-on activity (the activity has a modest additional fee). All groups must be accompanied by one or more adult chaperones (as directed by the education department). The general public is always welcome.
Be sure to check the center's calendar for Sunday in the Park is a family festival we have four times a year—this weekend it has a holiday theme with lots of kids activities; ARTventures Saturdays are also held four times a year. The focus with the ARTventures activities more educational and geared toward parents and kids working together.
The museum is open late on Tuesday and Thursday nights until 8pm.
Free admission to the gallery on Tuesday evening from 5:30pm-8pm.
Arts Café (live music and refreshments third Thursdays of the month, always free to Pfac members, $3 non-members)
While this small art center may interest all ages, little ones especially like it. Kids can color, paint, and craft collages and other artistic works in the Hands On for Kids gallery. Each Tuesday and Thursday PFAC offers Paint Day from 10am-4pm in the gallery as well. Check the calendar for the facility’s special classes.
