"Wonderful memory maker!"

As a child we spent hours upon hours on Peace Valley's Nature Trails.  I remember doing their camps and spending entire summers here.

Now that I have a son we love going to explore in the nature center and then onto the trails.  Just about every time we walk the trails we see deer, frogs, turtles, butterflies, and many birds.  It is a wonderful way to have quality family time for free!

"Something for Every Generation @ Peace Valley"

I have grown up around the corner from Please Valley Park and I have scads of memories of visiting the park from my youth on up.

There are two parts to Peace Valley Park.  The first includes the nature center.  You can start or end your trip to the park in the nature center.  Inside you will find some information on plants, flowers, animals, several activities for children, and sweeping views of the beautiful landscape.

Outside the nature center, you will find trail after trail to explore.  The wooded trails will take you to various treasures- a bird blind (sit and watch for as long as you'd like), streams, a pond (with snapping turtles!), even a hollowed out giant tree called the "Pooh tree."

This park is the perfect chance to explore nature and let your kids run wild with imagination.  Definitely not stroller friendly apart from the main road, but babies in carriers and walking kids will do just fine.

The other side of this enormous park is a lake, Lake Galena.  We visit Lake Galena way more than the nature center.  A huge man-made lake is the center of this park area.  Paved trails around the lake are perfect for walking, running, biking, skating, you name it.

There is a playground at this park and there are several large picnic pavilions (some covered, some not).  There are many grills available as well- bring your own charcoal.

You can fish in the lake- there are several docks and plenty of shoreline.  Don't expect to catch much more than a sunnie or too- but it can still be a fun time for the whole family. You can also bring your own boat or rent a canoe, kayak or paddleboat by the half hour.

The park is very dog friendly- there are always dogs on leashes and in the lake- we bring our dog along sometimes.

Lake Galena has PLENTY of parking and several public restrooms.

Our favorite thing to do is to pack a picnic lunch and spread a big blanket on the grass near the lake.

Admission is FREE and the park (both parts) close at sunset.

"Peaceful Respite"

Peace Valley Park/Lake Galena is a great destination for just about anyone looking to spend time with nature.  Lake Galena is a man-made lake offering excellent boating:  you can rent paddleboats, sailboats and kayaks.  The park has playgrounds, hiking, fishing, biking and 14 miles of trails for walking/running. Guided family nature walks are offered on Sunday afternoons and on summer evenings. Other programs include weekly birdwalks, moonlight hikes, singles walks and star watches. You can picnic or get out and get some air and spend some time with the family in the great outdoors.  We go there a lot with the kids when they need some "outside time"!

"Great time!"

My daughter and I love visiting this park. They have a large lake with many walking paths surrounding it. There is a long paved path perfect for walking with strollers or biking. They have 3 playgrounds, pavilions, and many picnic tables. They also have boats for rent, and allow fishing in certain areas. My daughter and I always look for different animals, and are never let down.
