I assumed anything with the word “silly” in it had to be kid friendly, plus Park City’s historic Main Street is always worth a visit. So we headed to this event early September with 3 kiddos in tow.
The event was festive yet crowded. We did have to drive around a bit to find parking. Swede Alley, which runs adjacent to Main Street is a good place to find free parking. Try the parking tower at the south end of this street for a good option. The festival is located at the north end of main street where vendor booths displaying local artistic talent and goods for sale. My kiddos were amazed at some of the awesome items displayed, such as edible Jell-O made to look like real flowers, beautiful jewelry and handmade clothing. The event has live entertainment such as comedians and musicians. We happened to come upon a competition where chefs had to come up with a unique meal with secret ingredients held in a cooler. The ingredients ended up being odd items such as octopus, noodles, truffle oil, and exotic fruits and veggies. The competition was close-up and lively and we were amazed at the creations developed by each chef. The north side of the event houses a handful of food vendors, a good place to grab a nice outdoor meal.
This is a fun free event; a good opportunity to expose kiddos to local talent and amusing entertainment. If you’re in the area on a Sunday, don’t miss the Park Silly Sunday Market.
Part farmer's market, part street fair, the Park Silly Market is "an ecofriendly open air market, street festival and commUnity forum where neighbors and friends come together"
The summer festival is held weekly on Sunday's from 10-5 pm mid June through the end of September. Events change weekly, but may include face painting, a bounce house, live music, street performers, a featured chef's tent, and of course a farmer's market. A great free event for families.
