More than 2 million visitors grace Acadia National Park with their presence in a single year. The park offers many attractions as well as facilities, leaving something for everyone who visits. The Park Loop Road lets you view the mesmerizing ocean, forests, and mountains.
If you enjoy driving and sightseeing, this is a definite must see for you. The scenery is simply beautiful, but it goes on for miles. We were traveling with young children who were not quite so interested in the scenery, so it got a little long. But those who like a little drive through the park will love this. This is not your typical Sunday drive - the scenery is truly beautiful, and you never know when you might see some elusive wildlife form.
This drive is one of the prettiest you'll ever see. The drive is all one way, you can bike if you want, although I'm not sure I'd try that with kids. You get to drive all over the park and have many chances to get out and hike, picnic, or view. It's not one I'd want to miss.
Park Loop Road is 20 miles long and can be easily driven or biked. However, there is also a foot path that borders most of the road. Take it slow, you don't want to miss the scenic views. Be sure to pull over once in a while to get a better look at Frenchman Bay, the islands in the bay and the mountains.
