Petting Zoo every Saturday 1:30 - 2:30
Tiger feeding 3:30 daily
Love the lady in the gift shop, she came out and sanitized the kiddie cars for me when i had my hands full! The animals look happy and healthy and there are a wide variety of them! There are also multiple places to sit and spread out a blanket and have a picnic so pack some food and drinks. Many wonderful trips, and many more to come definitely.
The name: Rain Forest zoo kind of got me expecting something else, but with that aside I have to say this was a nice zoo to see. The Highlight of the Zoo was the tiger exhibit, they had a feeding set up where you stood within several feet of the white tiger chowing down. This was one of the coolest things I have been at a zoo but you really need to map out your time perfectly! Other than this I would say this zoo was pretty average but something nice to do with the kids - we coupled this with the macadamia nut farm.
An international assortment of animals, including an extra-large anteater from Costa Rica pygmy hippos from Africa, and a wide assortment of birds live here. The zoo hosts many endangered birds indigenous to Hawaii, such as the Laysan albatross, Hawaiian coot, pueo (owl), and Hawaiian gallinule. There are some iguanas, mongooses, and lemurs, and an aviary section with exotic and colorful birds. It doubles as a botanical garden, and much of the growing plant life is labeled.
The animals have nice enclosures, you get to watch them feed the tiger if you are brave - lots of crunching and munching! We went on our honeymoon before kids but we still went back again the next day to look some more and loved to have a free activity.
