i can only find one of this in san diego. The place reminded me of the GROVE in LA. This outdoor mall is very family friendly. I like the farmers market they have there every Tuesday at 4-8 PM. The best restaurant in the mall is the King's Fish House. Their chowder and ratattouie are to die for. They provide crayons and pictures to color for the kids. Last time we went there, they have child's meal with free sippy cup, though you might have to ask. There are free concert near the water fountain some times. The place is a gem in the middle of nowhere. There are groceries nearby too, like walmart. You can find Build A Bear Workshop inside the mall. The mall's hours are all weekdays and saturday 10 am - 9 pm. On Sundays 11 am -7 pm. Check http://www.otayranchtowncenter.com/events for yearly events.
Want keep little ones busy for an hour or more...for free?
The Splash Pad & Chalk Garden at the Otay Ranch Center Mall are perfect! They are centrally located by the food court.
When it's hot, you'll see kids in street clothes & swimsuits (Moms in the know who come prepared) gallavanting in the water that shoots up from the ground below.
When it's cooler, there is a huge wall that kids are invited to express their artistic side on, using the large sticks of chalk provided by the mall (look for the statue of the little girl holding the basket containing the chalk).
Grab a coffee or smoothie from D'Lush & sit under an umbrella, relaxing while your kids bust out some energy.
There is also a kiddie train that runs on weekends for a nominal fee.
